Dear colleague

Global ILS from SiR

I am delighted to announce that all Schools that are affiliated to the Specialist Schools Trust can take advantage of  the Family of Schools offer whereby a secondary school and up to six primary feeder schools can purchase the Global ILS at a hugely reduced rate.

May I bring to your attention a special offer to all affiliated schools of the Specialist Schools Trust, offering an excellent opportunity for lead schools to implement SiR’s British Open Integrated Learning Software for themselves and up to 6 feeder primary schools at “hugely reduced rates”

SiR Learning Systems are the leading developer and supplier of Open Integrated Learning Systems in the UK with Numeracy, Literacy, MFL and Science multimedia resources, currently in use in thousands of UK schools. Students from SEN, Mainstream and Gifted and Talented continue to derive great stimulus and educational benefit from using the SiR curriculum software.

Products are all developed and presented in modular format to enable flexibility of use in many different learning environments, having been written by British teachers and mapped to various National Strategies.

The SiR Global Numeracy provides 14 products covering KS1 right through to ‘A’ Level with hundreds of interactive multimedia modules.

Global Maths (written by Birmingham LEA), Coco Maths, Zarc Maths, Complete Maths Workshop and Advanced Maths Workshop. There is a wide variety of different presentation styles to suit individual student needs. Schools also receive a Maths Assessment product and graphing package developed with Nottingham University Shell Centre. The Maths products have been mapped for you (by British teachers) into the National Numeracy Strategy from Reception through to Year 9.

SiR Global Literacy solution is a suite of 14 highly interactive multimedia products with the nationally renowned Global English (providing a phonics based approach to accelerating reading and spelling) being supported by a series of multicultural stories from around the world, KS3 Spelling Support, Macbeth, and the multimedia (self marking) version of the NFER 6-12 years Reading Test.

The Global Modern Foreign Languages products are very popular, providing highly engaging and interactive support to beyond GCSE level. Schools will receive Global French, German, Spanish and Italian covering Vocabulary, Verbs, Phrases, Sentences and Scenarios with active role play.

Global Science covering Heat, Matter, Electricity, Plants Around Us and The Human Body will provide bright, vibrant engaging support for students at KS1-KS2 and within learning support at KS3.

The Discovery Management System again developed in conjunction with British teachers; this system delivers and presents individual learning modules and complete lesson plans to the learner, together with full assessment and reporting of students submitted work on an individual or class basis.

You will have the ability to customise groups, add and assign individualised learning content mapped to National Curriculum learning targets.

Discovery bookmarks the progress of students so they can easily return to a particular section of learning. It also automatically marks the student’s submitted work and provides instant feedback of results which reduces peer pressure and saves valuable teacher time and increases non-contact time.

Reports are easily generated and interpreted for viewing by students, teachers and management.

This system includes an import facility for data exported from SIMS or similar.

Teachers and students can if they wish create their very own multimedia resources, which mark automatically by using the Courseware Author facility included within Discovery.

Students can access their lesson plans via a workstation or remotely via a roaming laptop at home or standalone using a program called ‘Discovery On Line’. This will send results back to the school and receive new lesson plans via the Internet, or when reconnected to the school cable or wireless network.

All this is included via a student interface that offers a variety of themes selectable by the student.

On site software installation and testing is undertaken by SiR technical engineers, onto the lead school computer network and those of the feeder primary schools.

On site staff development training, which is comprehensive and enjoyable, is provided by SiR. This includes 3 days for the lead school on their site and centralised training for the 6 feeder schools. The training, to suit the schools needs, will make the use of the software really effective enabling teachers to easily integrate the learning content into everyday classroom practise.

We are delighted with the number of Specialist Schools and partner Primary schools who are taking up the SiR “Family of Schools” initiative and this confirms our beliefs that it fully supports the aims and objectives of the Specialist Schools program.

Providing your school and up to 6 of your feeders with an unlimited user software licence for the entire range of SiR’s managed learning resources, will enable you all to provide a truly differentiated and personalised learning environment, resulting in the raising of self esteem, levels of achievement and standards within your own “Family of Schools”. This will further strengthen your collaboration with these schools and the wider community.

The high number of Specialist Schools taking up this initiative has enabled us to offer you a deferred payment option if you wish, by spreading the £19,995.00 payment over 3 school financial years, which will assist with your forward planning and budgeting.

If you would like a free of charge on site demonstration to your team and feeder schools then call 01773 820011 now, or complete the “Fax back” form and fax to 01773 820206.

Yours sincerely
